Emerging Markets Offer Best Opportunity in Mobile Business Market

Mobile BroadbandBusiness customers offer between 20% and 80% higher Average Return per User (ARPU) than the average mobile consumer does in emerging markets, although business customers still constitute a small portion of the mobile market.

Additionally, mobile business customer revenues will grow over the next five years from one to four percentage points more than the overall mobile services market.

However, one of the most important statistics from analysis of the mobile business customer in emerging markets is that about 72% of all mobile business customers are self-employed or work in businesses of fewer than 100 employees.

Africa Leads Mobile Broadband Internet Growth, Says Delta Partners

Delta PartnersThe mobile broadband market in Africa and the Middle East will be worth $6 billion by 2011, with Africa being the larger contributor. A recent white paper released by telecoms advisory and investment firm Delta Partners shows that the Africa and Middle East regions can expect a mobile Internet boom over the next few years.

“The Middle East and Africa region has been the world’s fastest growing region in terms of mobile penetration in the recent past. In addition, fixed-line penetration has stagnated at around 4% across Africa, which is further driving the growth of mobile on the continent,” says Daniel Torras, a principal at Delta Partners’ Johannesburg office. The lack of fixed infrastructure, coupled with high costs of service provisioning, has severely hampered the development of broadband such as ADSL, particularly in Africa, Daniel Torras adds.
