SEACOMTanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) says it is now hooked up to the SEACOM international submarine fibre-optic cable system and able to provide its customers with some of the fastest communication services in the country.

TTCL Chief Executive Officer Said A Said told local press late last week that TTCL’s internet traffic has been switched entirely to the cable effective 28 July, 2009 – less than a week after the system was officially launched.

On 23 July, SEACOM reported that its 1.28Tbps, 17,000km submarine fibre-optic cable linking South and East Africa to global networks via India and Europe had been completed and commissioned. Read the rest of this entry »
